Douglas Nydegger
Douglas Nydegger was born and raised in Concord, New Hampshire. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Painting and Graphic Art from the University of New Hampshire. While many of his works are abstract, Douglas frequently draws inspiration from the images of the cosmos and other planets as well as from current news and events. He is particularly mesmerized by Jupiter and its never-ending swirling storms. He was influenced by the artist Jackson Pollock for his unusual colors, by the shadow boxes of Joseph Cornell, and by the striking pictures Dali had created for Bazaar Magazine. Douglas likes to work with acrylic latex, oil-based spray, and especially with found objects that enhance the texture of his works. His technique involves the layering of dots of color to build depth and tone, not unlike that of Pointillism. He believes there are no coincidences in life and yet all of life is a coincidence. Douglas lives and works in Talent, Oregon.
