Northwest Ceramics

Northwest Ceramics is a father-daughter duo founded in 2020 by Jeff Edwards and Liz O’Brien. Liz O’Brien has been practicing ceramics since 2011 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a focus on ceramics from Southern Oregon University. In 2013, she introduced the art of ceramics to Jeff, which quickly became his passion. Northwest Ceramics aims to create stoneware that is light but durable, is beautiful to live with but practical in use. They strive to source materials locally whenever possible: their two main clay providers are Georgies Clay (Portland, OR) and Laguna Clay (Los Angeles, CA). They opt not to use commercial glazes: the colorful glossy finish we see is mixed by Jeff from personal recipes. Aside from being potters, Liz and Jeff have been educators since 2015 and offer regular ceramics classes for adults and children in their studio located at the Phoenix Industrial Studios.
